What NEAR is
NEAR is a Spanish freight matching platform that eliminates empty truck trips. It connects carriers with spare capacity and shippers who need to move goods in the same direction, in real time, using artificial intelligence to optimise return routes.
Our mission
That no truck drives back empty. In Spain, around 43% of road kilometres are run without cargo: NEAR turns those wasted legs into revenue for carriers and into cheaper, more sustainable shipments for senders.
How it works
Shippers post their shipment in under two minutes. MIRA, NEAR’s AI copilot, cross-references routes, capacity and schedules to match each load with a carrier already heading that way. Payment is held in escrow with Stripe and released once delivery is confirmed.
Technology
NEAR relies on artificial intelligence for load and route optimisation. MIRA analyses the transport network in real time to find the most efficient matches between available capacity and shipment demand, cutting empty kilometres.
Sustainability
Every shared trip reduces empty kilometres and the CO₂ emissions tied to road transport. The GreenPoints rewards system incentivises the most sustainable shipments on the platform.
Team and backing
NEAR was founded in 2024 by Lorena Rubio Navolotskaya (CEO) and Juan Calderon Granda (CTO). It is backed by Google for Startups and NVIDIA Inception, and supported by Logistics Incubator, Consorci and StartUB (Universitat de Barcelona).
